✅ DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR D7 RENEWAL (AFTER 2 YEARS)
1. Valid Passport
- Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended duration of stay.
- Bring a photocopy of the bio-data page as well.
2. Current Residence Permit (Título de Residência)
- The original residence card and a copy (front and back).
- This is the D7 residence permit issued after your original visa.
3. Proof of Sufficient Means of Subsistence
- Updated proof that you have passive income or savings to support yourself.
- Current thresholds (2025):
- €870.00/month (100% of Portuguese minimum wage) for the main applicant.
- €435.00/month (50%) for a spouse or dependent adult.
- €261.00/month (30%) per dependent child.
- Acceptable proof includes:
- Recent 6 months of Portuguese bank statements.
- Pension statements, rental income, dividends, or savings.
- If applicable, updated NHR (Non-Habitual Resident) status or tax declaration showing income source.
4. Portuguese NIF (Tax Number)
- Already issued during initial application.
- Bring proof if required (though typically not asked again).
5. Proof of Legal Residency in Portugal
- Recent utility bill, rental contract, or property deed in your name.
- If renting, provide an updated rental contract (Contrato de Arrendamento) registered with Finanças (tax office).
- Alternatively, a residence certificate (Atestado de Residência) from your Junta de Freguesia.
6. Criminal Record Certificate from Portugal
- Obtained automatically by AIMA with your permission (tick the box on the renewal form).
- You may also bring one from your home country, but it’s not always requested for renewal.
7. Proof of Health Insurance or SNS Enrolment
- Proof of enrolment in the Portuguese National Health System (SNS), or
- Private health insurance valid in Portugal and covering all risks.
8. Proof of Tax Compliance
- Recent IRS declaration (Modelo 3) or Finanças certificate confirming no tax debts.
- You can get this via the Portal das Finanças or at a Finanças office.
9. Proof of Social Security Status (if applicable)
- If you have been working or self-employed, bring your Social Security status certificate showing contributions or exemption.
